Performance Capabilities
Whipping out 159 net horsepower, a 2.7-liter engine block is standard on the 2022 Toyota Tacoma SR base trim. Higher-level models have a 3.5-L engine that whips out 278 net hp. Adopting the Atkinson cycle design, the V-6 powerhouse cranks out 265 pound-feet of peak torque. A six-speed automatic transmission system is compatible with both engines on this light-duty Toyota pickup truck. A manual gearbox with a clutch start-cancel switch is available for enhanced control. When appropriately enhanced, the 2022 Tacoma can tow up to 6,400 pounds in compliance with SAE J2807 parameters. Running on the 3.5-L i-FORCE engine, the 2022 Toyota Tundra is more capable than ever before. Key ratings of this twin-turbo powerplant include 348 hp and 405 lb-ft. This full-size Toyota pickup truck taps into 437 hp and 583 lb-ft from the i-FORCE MAX powerhouse. This all-new hybrid powertrain maximizes the vehicle's trailering capacity at 12,000 lb. A 10-speed automatic transmission system is coupled with the electrified propulsion system. Both Toyota pickup trucks offer the legendary Multi-Terrain Select technology for tackling off-road trails. These rugged models also boast the Crawl Control for navigating harsh terrains at safe cruising speeds. Of course, the proprietary Bilstein shock absorbers significantly boost the off-road attributes of these Toyota trucks. Additionally, the Tundra offers the Adaptive Variable Suspension and Load-leveling Rear Height Control Air Suspension.
Utility Features
Featuring a sheet-molded composite (SMC) surface with fiber reinforcements, the 2022 Toyota Tacoma's bed is more durable than before. Similarly, the 2022 Toyota Tundra's SMC bed has aluminum reinforcements for even better durability. This all-new bed is engineered to support a payload of up to 1,940 lb. Rated at 400 W, a power inverter is conveniently accessible from the spacious bed. Opening the tailgate will be easy thanks to the all-new switch that's integrated into the rear taillights on the driver's side. Other premium utilities on the Tundra include a deck rail header, power running boards, and the signature BedStep. Similarly, the Tacoma is available with a 400-W inverter, deck rail system, and an insulated bed storage compartment.
Technology Features
Incorporated into the 2022 Toyota Tacoma dashboard, the infotainment system is available with a touch screen that measures 7 or 8 inches wide. You could get a 14-inch display that floats above the 2022 Toyota Tundra's expansive dashboard. This all-new multimedia console includes wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay for seamless integration of smartphones. Both Toyota pickup trucks offer the latest Connected Services for compatible devices. You'll also get the Toyota+Alexa app inside the Tacoma model.
